AC Hotel by Marriott Bratislava Old Town
We recommend this address to those who want contemporary design over period charm: AC Hotel...
Wilson Palace occupies a turn-of-the-century townhouse on Štefánikova, on the quieter edge of Bratislava's Old Town. It is the kind of address the district was built around a century ago: a grand staircase, chandeliers in the lobby, proportions a modern build would never attempt. LOFT Premium reworked the building into a 30-suite hotel without erasing what made it worth keeping, so the public rooms, a library, a terrace, a banquet hall, still read like a private house that happens to take guests now. The Presidential Palace is a six-minute walk, Bratislava Castle a little further, and the hotel suits travellers who want scale and history in the same stay.
We picked Wilson Palace for the gap it fills: the Old Town is dense with small guesthouses and a handful of international chains, but short on rooms built for a longer stay or a family splitting a floor. The smallest category here starts at 30 square metres, and the two-bedroom Grand Suite runs to 90. The building's past as a private residence shows in details a new-build cannot fake: the staircase, the proportions of the public rooms, the chandeliers nobody installed for effect. Add a restaurant with its own brewery and breakfast regulars keep coming back for, and the case for staying rather than sleeping here makes itself.
Štefánikova sits just outside the oldest knot of streets, close enough to reach everything on foot and far enough to sleep without the main square's noise. The Presidential Palace is six minutes away, Bratislava Castle about twelve, and the Christmas market square much the same. The central railway station is a ten-minute walk, useful on a route that often pairs Bratislava with Vienna, itself under an hour by car. The street is residential and leafy by Old Town standards, a quieter base than the hotels clustered around the square.

Our Favorite Thing About the Hotel: the Grand Suite's two bedrooms under one roof, a rare find this close to the main square
Dining: Fabrika restaurant and in-house brewery, bar, breakfast buffet
Amenities: library, terrace, banquet hall, four meeting rooms, air-conditioned suites with espresso machines and in-room safes

The room plan runs from the 30 square metre Executive Room through a 35 square metre Junior Suite and a 40 square metre Deluxe Suite, up to the two-bedroom Grand Suite at 90. Every category carries air conditioning, a flat-screen television, an in-room safe, free WiFi and a stocked minibar with an espresso maker, details that matter more on a stay of several nights than one. The Grand Suite reads less like a hotel room than a short-let apartment with hotel service attached, the pitch for a family or group splitting a historic-centre address.
The hotel's restaurant, Fabrika, plays on the building's industrial undertones with a factory-floor décor and its own attached brewery, an unusual pairing for a residence turned hotel. The bar and lounge extend the same register into the evening, and the breakfast buffet has built a following well beyond overnight guests. Room service covers the suites at limited hours, useful for the Grand Suite's two bedrooms when not everyone wants to head down for dinner. It gives Wilson Palace a dining identity separate from the building's genteel architecture, rather than an afterthought.
Check-in runs from 3pm and check-out is at 11am, later than many Old Town addresses, useful after a long drive from Vienna. The hotel offers covered on-site parking and an airport shuttle, both bookable in advance. It is a smoke-free property that does not accept pets, and the main guest on any booking should be at least 18. For a group booking the Grand Suite, confirming bedding and the exact suite category directly with the hotel avoids surprises.
